Analysis of comics, both good and bad. Primarily I look at the recurring elements that creators or characters use. It's all just an excuse to drill down on various techniques and comic book history.

The biggest comic collections are Named Collections but the most prestigious and rare ones are qualified as Pedigree Collections. This episode explains what elements are necessary to make a collection a Pedigree. Then I go into three Pedigree Collection stories: How Chuck Rozanski built Mile High Comics out of the Edgar Church Collection; how a suspect in the Green River Murders put together the Green River Collection; and the unique tale and strange wrinkles to the Okajima Collection, partially assembled behind the walls of the WW2 Internment Camps.

mu be siney super mman hoow dos wer a cape bat man wer a capr befor to and stell dos to juts like super man hav a nices day
Don Rosa sold all of his superhero-comics like Marvel/DC etc but kept all his other ones like i think a complete run of EC comics. There are videos on YT where he goes through his collection in his comics vault.
Was that opening the most low key call to subscribe ever?
You forgot the Jedi.
I think the cape was very functional to keep warm for the circus performers of the interwar years. Most of those skin tight suits don't look very warm.
Loved Aparo and Marshall Rodgers Batman
When they stopped being heroes. The cape is symbolic of "angel" or "demon" wings. So when comics became "more human" so did the deities represented in them.
Capes give the feel of a medieval knight, and thus of power and moral integrity. This is even mostly true when worn by villains, though there can be an aspect of mockery or tarnished honor to them.
Nagraj is Nagraj ,he is not copy of any one of else mr.
No Cape!
3:04 that beeeg head Batman has. 🤣
I always thought monarch's gown kinda is a cape. Glad my connections ain't far off.
No capes, darling.
im super late to this, i know, but if i would recommend a book. it would be a manga and it's Chainsaw Man. i'd LOVE to see your takes on Chainsaw Man, as it not only deconstructs tropes of the shonen manga genre but it also references situations from western superhero books and movies and i think you'd find that very interesting. there's even a straight up Raimi Spider-Man reference in the beginning of Part 2 and it's an amazing moment.
I don't understand your point about them being mentally kids. They are fully aware of what they're doing and are capable of killing people. So they should be treated as adults. They aren't "mentally kids."
Edna "no capes" must be delighted 😀
When I got back into comics after a 30 year absence about 10 years ago, I bought JLA #50 from a Comics Shop in Nashville Tennessee. It was in Good condition, wasn't graded, but it had a certificate inside when you opened it, I had a stamped seal of the State of Colorado. It had absolutely nothing to do with the Mile high collection that was purchased in the 70's. This one was part of a collection of this guy that was embezzling Hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy a copy of every comic book from 1935 until the present day. He bought a copy of almost every comic book from 1935 to 1990, until he was caught stealing all that money. My comic book that I got in Nashville was part of the collection, it had the State Seal telling about the crook and everything about how he stole the money. I sold it to this old grouch Larry, and the first thing he did was throw away the certificate that had the Colorado state seal ! He did that just because I got a big kick out of the story ! He hated anything that didn't have him in the story looking like a hero or something, , he was an angry old Goul, someone that if he grew up in a younger generation, would be considered a player Hater, or a jealous cock Block ! Thats who and what he is , if he is even still alive ! If you are still out there Larry, I wish you nothing but the best, God Bless
Thankyou for your videos. From Nigeria 🇳🇬
I wonder if there was any Dick Tracy influence in the mafia villain faces.
Love the vid!
Please do a video about Scalped and 100 Bullets. I loved the Criminal one and those are my other two favorite crime series. Especially Scalped. I think it's one of the most underrated comics ever.
Which heroes put their underwear on last? Stupidheroes!!
Ya know what no one talks about, villains with capes
7:57 So your logic doesn't make much sense here. If superman for example is fighting to stop brainiac from shrinking the earth isn't that fighting to maintain the status qou? So by this logic it makes brainiac the protagonist? Also superman doesn't typically change much so is he less of a hero? I don't think the qoute applies to a lot of comics.
:< D
We need a parallel world Superman where he is still a super jerk in modern day. Good video my man.
:O
Omg, I have this book. It was pretty cheesy, but I received it when I was 10 or something.
:)
sounds pretty great to me actually, i wouldn't mind writing that comic
Capes kind of look like wings, like bat wings, bird wings, or angel wings. All evoke the idea of flight, or the supernatural, or power in general.
ur right nerd
The Green Hornet no cape .
The Superman/Wonder Woman relationship was great but they could've done it better. I wish they kept it around instead of going back to Lois.
fantastic ep. More please.
I'm glad you gave a history about what pedigree collections are. I had heard about them but didn't know the history. Thank you
Honestly I would say My Favorite Superhero in the moment is Megamind and yes he Does wear a Cape
i still think if written right eggehead could still be a solid threat
Naruto also has a "cape" when he powers up, in the form of a robe. When he masters the toad sage art, he comes back home with a red and black robe. Later on, the energy of a beast within him manifests physically, envelops (and somehow unzips) his jacket, making it longer to look like a robe
Super heros wear capes because sometimes they have lie in wait on chilly eves.
Isn't it great that the doctor reported Henry to CPS...😌...wait, what? 🤨
This interview now stands among his final testaments and, typically for Mr. Piskor, he approaches it with a deeply thoughtful candor. A very fine interview! Barring a previous arrangement with Mr. Piskor, your channel now holds the copyright on this interview. Will you make the transcript available for publication?
Awesome work
And did you mention that one show (I think it was on NBC) /titled/ "The Cape"? (It only ran 10 episodes)
Was Strange's cape always 'self-aware' (or some other word that slips my mind right now), or did that add that for the movies?
